    13 Days of Halloween: #6

    #6:  OUR HALLOWEEN PARTY!

WOW, what a week!  We learned that our newest niece wasted no time in joining the family...Congratulations to the M's!  We are looking forward to meeting her!  Then, Friday night we held our long awaited 4th annual Halloween party!

I have a few countdown day posts to catch up on, and I STILL haven't put any treats in our poor 13 Days of Halloween cauldrons,
but I couldn't wait to post photos from our party!

A special THANK YOU, to everyone who helped make our party possible by lending tools, entertaining our boys [making errand runs a whole lot easier], preparing food, and of course attending our party!  Without each of you there wouldn't have been a party.

Earlier I 'leaked' a few detail-photos of key decor and costume items...
Here are larger photos from the party!
    Our 'FRAGILE' dragon head

Can you guess whose costumes these detail-photos were of?
    Peter Pan's shoes!
    Dragon's wings!
Here, Peter Pan and Dragon get a closer look at the tavern sign before the party.  [I can't tell you how excited I was to find this sign post laying in a curbside pile of scrap...]

In our party invitation we revealed our theme to each of our guests, and asked them to RSVP to "the tavern keepers" and that was all we gave them.  When they arrived Friday night, we loved surprising each of them with...
    "Ye Olde Haunt"
    [Our medieval/fantasy "tavern"]
    The entrance
    Our "hay loft"
My target practice dummy!  All the console and PC game taverns I've seen has one...I figured, you'd have to fine-tune those ogre-slaying skills SOMEWHERE...

THE highlight of this year's party was most certainly our tavern bar with functioning taps!

If I may take a moment to say, I'm so proud of Hubby for taking the project from design to done, and in the short windows of time he's had between work and school and being a great dad to two very energetic boys.
If only The Home Depot had a discount punch card...

We found, and taste-tested, 3 non-alcoholic concoctions that we had "on tap" at the party:
    Dragon's Breath Ale
    Basilisk Butterbeer
    Grendel's Grog
    "Basilisk Butterbeer"
We applied etching cream over a vinyl decal [designed by Hubby] and etched a mug for each guest to drink from, and then take home with them after the party.
A simple drink tag marked each guest's mug.
    The hearth
My handsome brother, at one of our pub tables.
    "The Witch's Kitchen"
From the kitchen we served the beef stew, bread and water.
Luring sweets.  Big Brother calls it "the candy store."

"Bill Cosby" left a few of these around for us to find!
Fortunately my unfinished window trim was appropriate for the occasion ;)

Mr. J, Darci, and Hubby...giving us his best Dirk the Daring face!
The fabulously talented Darci has made multiple costumes for us, including this one as well as Big Brother's Peter Pan.

    Me
As for me, 'the photographer' of the evening, my costume may remain a bit of a mystery until Halloween...

    Our Fabulous Guests

WINNER of the coveted dragon-egg trophy for Best Costume!

Before the night ended, Hubby invited our guests to watch our albino Corn Snake "Lefty" eat her dinner, a live mouse ;P [Surprisingly, most of them did!]

When the last guest left, I kicked off my shoes...
...and Hubby and I played with dry ice :)

This has been a great October, and we had such a great time...we're already planning next year's party!  We wish you a fun and SAFE Halloween.

    Happy Haunting!
